Deck the Halls

As I mentioned in the last post our Christmas tree was rather large once we got it home. Matt quickly put the tree in the stand and oops.... It tipped over. So with a little creativity and power tools of course Matt was able to make a better tree stand. I was not willing to just start putting decorations on it for fear it would tip again. But never fear the tree did not fall all day and so we spent the evening putting up all the ornaments. I was quite surprised that Ethan and Hudson both wanted to help. I mean I expected them to be interested for like five minutes but they were really focused. It was so cute to watch. Hudson thought it was just as much fun to take the ornaments OFF the tree. Each year Christmas is more fun. There is nothing better than watching it through a child's eyes. Tonight my Mom told the story of Three Kings Day, which is what they did in Puerto Rico. Growing up on the island she did not know about Santa Claus. So as a new fun tradition we will be celebrating Three Kings Day with the boys while she is here visiting. That will be a new post for tomorrow.

Ethan was excited to put up the lights

Hudson of course was pulling them down

O Christmas Tree

Today we picked out our Christmas tree. Our original plan was to get a tree permit and cut down our own tree. But we ran out of time because Matt has training in Cleveland. So we did the next best thing. We went down the street to Hillcrest Orchard and purchased a tree. We drove up and immediately all of us had our eye on the same tree. It was meant to be. The price was right too. Once we got the tree home we quickly realized that it looked smaller outside and in the living room it was huge!!!!!

All Bundled up

Ethan found this tree!

Can you notice the baby bump?

Too bad Ethan didn't keep his eye on the camera!

Thanksgiving Football Fun!

I know most people love all the yummy food at Thanksgiving. As wonderful as that is my favorite part of Thanksgiving is watching the Cowboys play. This year they didn't disappoint as they crushed the Seahawks. Matt of course will not be caught dead in Cowboy attire but below is the rest of the family as we get ready for a fun Thanksgiving day.

Hudson also loves Football. As soon as we turn a game one he throws his hands in the air and yells FOOTBALL! He actually watches most of the game too. When a touchdown is made he will clap his hands. Hudson also loves to throw the football. Of course he doesn't wait for you to be ready, he just grabs the football and throws it at you. He can actually throw it pretty far. He has no clue about catching it, he just wants to throw it at you.

ready or not!

Time to Potty Train?

Once again I am reminded that every child is different. Many of you will remember that Ethan did not want to be potty trained. I tried everything and he was so stubborn nothing worked until his first day of Preschool at age 3. Hudson on the other hand has been showing an interest in potty training for a couple of weeks now. But I think today we finally made the decision to begin the process. Hudson has started taking his diaper off when it needed to be changed. Today was just awful. He took the diaper off and then wiped his bottom all over the carpet!!!! You can imagine the mess because it was a FULL diaper. Since it is a holiday week I was watching my nieces and nephews who quickly told me about Hudson’s “accident”. Thank goodness my sister n law, Summer, walked in the door just as I had discovered the mess. She immediately took Hudson into the bathtub and I was left to clean up the carpet and dispose of the diaper. After everyone was all cleaned up we went to Summer’s house to help her get ready for Thanksgiving. Hudson took a nap while we were there. As soon as he woke up from his nap he walked over to me and began pulling on his pants. I asked him if he needed to go potty and he said yes, and ran to the bathroom. I placed him on the little training potty not sure of what he would do. Sure enough he needed to go potty, unfortunately, he got more on the floor but hey he told me when he needed to go right? So at this point I am trying to put a new diaper on and Hudson is telling me no! I am able to get the diaper on but he is not happy. So on our way home I stop off at Target to buy some pull ups. Hudson was so excited. As soon as we got home I took him to the bathroom and he was more than happy to sit on the toilet. Only problem is he likes to sit on the big potty and then his training potty so it is kind of like musical chairs. I say whatever works. So wish me luck as we begin this potty training journey. I was not planning on starting this early but Hudson has a mind of his own.

"Thomas" the train potty when you push the button it sings

All aboard!

He crawled up here all by himself.

Halloween Poster

It was a Star Wars theme in Oklahoma this year too. My brother's kids all dressed up as Star Wars characters too. Funny but we didn't even plan this. How cute are all the kiddos? My personal favorite is little Allison as Princess Lea in the corner. Many thanks to my brother Matthew for taking the time to create our official Halloween Poster of 2008.

Doctor appointment

I had my second appointment on Friday. This is where I met with the midwife to discuss medical history, lab results, and a basic physical. I was actually reminded that every pregnancy is truly different. I am not sure if this is something new they monitor or if it just wasn't an issue with my other pregnancies but the results of my blood work showed that my Thyroid levels were too low for being pregnant. They gave me a prescription for thyroid medication that I must take for a month. Then at my next appointment they will check the levels again. The bad part about the medication is that I have to take it first thing in the morning with water. I am not allowed to drink or eat anything for 30 minutes or it will wipe out the effect of the medication. Seriously, that is not helping with my morning sickness. I am usually queasy in the morning so the first thing I try to do is eat some crackers to calm my stomach. So that waiting 30 minutes stuff is not fun for me. I am very thankful that the morning sickness has been mild compared to the last pregnancy. I just have to take things slow in the mornings and by 10 I am feeling better. My sleep schedule is definitely off. I find myself taking short little naps during the day. I haven't been able to sleep through the night either(probably due to the naps). Our next appointment is Dec 15th for the Nuchal Translucency Ultrasound and then that same day I finally meet with the doctor.

Big Brothers!

Yep that would be plural. Hudson can now join the big brother club. We are pregnant! Today was my first doctor's appointment. I went in for an ultrasound and of course lots of blood work. Everything looked fine during the ultrasound. We have a due date of June 29th. On Friday I will go back to the doctor to get the results of my lab work and meet with the midwife, (that is just the procedure at this doctor's office.) The midwife welcomes all new patients and on my 12 week visit I actually get to meet with the doctor. I choose the OB/GYN office that is at Providence. I figured it just made things easier since we would be delivering at that hospital and it would be easy for Matt to meet me at the appointments. So far I have felt great, not much morning sickness. I do however, find myself napping when Hudson takes a nap. I have noticed that I can not go more than two hours without getting hungry. Then on Saturday, I was craving Abby's pizza. I mean nothing was going to stop me from eating that pizza! Ha ha! We did tell Ethan the good news and asked him if he wanted a brother or sister. To which he first replied sister. Then after thinking about it said he would like one of each. Little did he know, I did not find that very funny.
